Having trouble with Apple Configurator or trying to sync your iPads?
The dreaded Restore to Itunes Screen
At times you may see a see that looks similar the one above. This means the iPad needs to be restored to iTunes. This normally happens when you try to sync your iPads through Apple Configurator, but for some reason the process is interrupted. Don't panic! It's not that bad.
- Open iTunes with the iPad(s) connected to the computer.
- You will probably see a screen like this:
(If you have more than one iPad that needs to be restored, you will have to click okay for every iPad.)
- The next screen you see should be:
- From this point all you have to do is click "Restore iPad...".
- You will see one more popup message like the one below.
- Click "Restore and Update".
- This process may take a few minutes. (At the top of the iTunes window you will be able to see where it is in the restoring process.)
You will have to repeat these steps for every iPad that needs to be restored. You can only restore one iPad at a time.
If you are restoring multiple iPads, I suggest you peek at the screens on the iPads to see which iPads have been restored and unplug those once they reboot. This will take them off the list in the iTunes menu.
If you choose not to unplug the iPads, you will still be able to tell which ones have been restored by looking at the screen when you click on each one. If it has already been restored, when you select the iPad in the menu the screen will prompt you to restore a backup or to set it up as a new iPad. Just click the eject icon beside the name of the iPad on the left, and it will remove it from the list.
Once your iPads have been restored, you can close iTunes and go back to Apple Configurator to "prepare" them.
